Years 1 -6

Junior School

In our Junior School children transition from our early learning centre of kindergarten and pre-primary to a more structured and focused learning environment. Year 1 marks the beginning of this exciting adventure, where students build on fundamental literacy and numeracy skills. Throughout each subsequent year, they gradually expand their knowledge and abilities, exploring a wide range of subjects, including specialist areas of Religious Education, Yawuru, Science, Physical Education, and the Arts.

Junior schooling not only focuses on academic growth but also prioritises the holistic development of young learners. It encourages active participation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Students engage in hands-on activities, group projects, and interactive discussions, fostering their creativity, communication skills, and teamwork.

Within this nurturing educational environment, teachers play a vital role as guides, mentors, and facilitators. They create engaging lessons, personalised learning experiences, and provide individualised support to meet each student’s unique needs. Assessments and evaluations are used to monitor progress and identify areas where additional support may be required, ensuring that every child receives the necessary guidance to reach their full potential.

Junior schooling provides a safe and inclusive community for children to develop not only academically but also socially and emotionally. It encourages our positive values: courage, love, empathy, acceptance, and resilience, fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, and individual differences are embraced.

As students’ progress through their junior schooling years, they gain confidence, independence, and a solid educational foundation that prepares them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. The journey through Year 1 to Year 6 paves the way for future academic success, instilling a lifelong love for learning and setting the stage for further exploration and growth in their educational journey.
