Science

St. Mary’s Primary Science program offers comprehensive education from Kindergarten to Year 5, covering various scientific fields such as biology, astronomy, geology, chemistry, and physics. Students are taught challenging scientific concepts through a hands-on, fun, and eye-opening approach that connects them to the world around them. The program integrates Aboriginal Australian knowledge of the land, sea, and sky with mainstream science, leading to numerous “aha” moments and logical explanations for different phenomena throughout the year.

Technology plays a vital role in the curriculum, with augmented reality and 3D printing enhancing the learning experience. Additionally, St. Mary’s Primary organises numerous after-school STEM clubs as well has an extension club participating in the annual national MAD STEM competition. During National Science Week, the school hosts exciting out-of-class experiments and a highly successful annual science fair, where community members judge the students’ creative projects.
