On Friday, 31 July, our Year 11 students took part in their annual Retreat Day, centered around the theme ‘My Community.’ The day provided a meaningful opportunity for the cohort to explore, reflect on, and connect with the rich local history and diverse heritage of Broome and its surrounds.
The morning began with a shared cooked breakfast at the College to fuel the day ahead. Students and staff then embarked on a pilgrimage walk toward Town Beach, stopping at several culturally and historically significant landmarks along the way:
- Broome Cemetery
- Kimberley Stolen Generation First Nations Corporation
- Broome RSL
- Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral
- Broome Historical Museum
At each location, guest speakers and organisation representatives generously shared their time, offering insightful presentations on the history, mission, and ongoing importance of their work within Broome. We extend our sincere gratitude to each host for providing our students with such valuable local perspectives.
To conclude the day, the cohort headed to Cable Beach for a well-earned afternoon of swimming, relaxing, and taking in the stunning coastline we are fortunate to call home. It was a memorable day of reflection, learning, and community spirit.
