As part of National Science Week, our Year 5 students got up close with a fascinating—and infamous—part of Australia’s natural history during a hands-on cane toad dissection workshop.
Working in small groups and closely guided by our senior Year 11 mentors, students explored cane toad anatomy while developing their scientific observation and inquiry skills. The workshop also provided an opportunity to learn about the origins of cane toads in Australia and the devastating impact they have had on native wildlife and ecosystems.
The experience brought science to life, encouraging students to ask questions, make observations and deepen their understanding of the environmental challenges facing our unique Australian fauna.
