A big thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends (P&F) for funding the purchase of a fantastic collection of picture story books and novels for use across our Primary classrooms.
These new books are providing teachers with a wealth of opportunities to engage students in rich reading experiences while developing important literacy skills. Recently, our teachers dedicated a staff meeting to exploring the new collection and discovering the many teaching and learning opportunities hidden within the pages.
Working collaboratively, teachers explored the books and developed creative classroom resources designed to support vocabulary development, reading comprehension and a range of other important reading skills. They shared ideas, discussed ways to bring the stories to life and considered how each book could be used to spark curiosity and deepen student learning.
This professional learning was a wonderful reminder that a great book can be so much more than a story—it can be a starting point for meaningful conversations, new vocabulary, critical thinking and a love of reading.
We are incredibly grateful to our P&F for investing in quality literature and supporting literacy learning across the College. Your generosity will continue to make a difference in classrooms and, most importantly, help inspire our students to become confident and enthusiastic readers.
