Year 7 Drama students recently stepped back in time and headed to the Wild West for an action-packed melodrama adventure in the dusty town of Dusty Creek!
Using improvisation, mime and the exaggerated characters and conventions of melodrama, students transformed themselves into cowboys, sheriffs, villains, townsfolk and other colourful characters. With cowboy hats, bandanas and plenty of imagination, Dusty Creek quickly became a town filled with dramatic showdowns, suspicious strangers and larger-than-life characters.
The activity gave students the opportunity to develop their confidence, characterisation, movement and improvisation skills while working collaboratively to create entertaining scenes.
There was plenty of laughter, creativity and dramatic flair as Year 7 discovered that sometimes the best Drama happens when you simply commit to the character, embrace the story and see where the adventure takes you!
Yee-haw, Year 7!
