Strings That Inspire: Year 7 Students Meet the Australian String Quartet

Last week, our Year 7 students were treated to a very special musical experience when the Australian String Quartet, visiting from Adelaide, joined us for an inspiring and engaging incursion. The talented musicians delivered a captivating live performance, giving students the opportunity to experience the beauty and power of music performed by highly accomplished professionals. However, the experience was about much more than simply listening to a concert.

Students were fascinated to learn about the instruments, the musicians’ experiences and the dedication required to pursue a career in music. They listened with enthusiasm and curiosity before engaging in conversations and asking thoughtful questions about the musicians’ journeys.

One of the highlights was seeing students leave the performance humming Beethoven and excited to share their own musical experiences. Many were keen to tell the musicians what they are currently learning and explore where their own passion for music might take them in the future.

We were particularly proud of the respect, enthusiasm and curiosity demonstrated by our Year 7 students throughout the visit. Experiences such as this provide students with valuable opportunities to connect their learning with the wider world and to see where their own interests and talents could lead. For many students, this was more than just a performance—it was an opportunity to be inspired, discover something new and imagine what might be possible on their own musical journey.

A special thank you to Mr Laurence for organising this wonderful opportunity and to the Australian String Quartet for sharing their incredible talent, passion and musical journeys with our students.
