Last Friday, 28th February, our Broome Shire hosted a special morning tea to welcome Ms. Kana Tsujiwaki, the Assistant Director at the Japan Local Government Centre based in Sydney.
Ms. Tsujiwaki’s visit is particularly significant for our College, as she was eager to hear about the college’s long-standing immersion program with Taiji. To provide her with first hand insights of last year’s immersion participants and now ambassadors—Fletcher, Mahlena, Miranda, Tyler, and Matthew attended and represented our College at this event. Their participation highlighted the successful cultural exchange and learning experiences facilitated by this program.
Members of the Broome Japanese community and the Broome Shire Council were also present at the event. The Shire President and the CEO kindly gave our students ambassadors the opportunity to learn about council meetings and provided a tour of the Council Chambers.
This morning tea not only served as a warm welcome for Ms. Tsujiwaki but also as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Broome Shire and the Japan Local Government Centre. It was an enriching experience for all attendees, fostering greater understanding and collaboration.
We look forward to sharing more about the positive impact of our College’s immersion program when our 2025 tour sets off later this term.
