St Mary’s College came alive with house spirit, friendly competition and plenty of athletic talent at this year’s Secondary House Athletics Carnival.
Students, staff and families turned out in fantastic numbers, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the day. Students proudly represented their Houses, cheering on their teammates and encouraging one another across every event. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship and participation on display highlighted the strong sense of community that makes the St Mary’s College carnival such a special event.
There were also some outstanding individual athletic performances, with several long-standing records broken across a range of events. These achievements are a wonderful reflection of the dedication, determination and hard work of our student athletes.
Adding an unexpected twist to the day, a period of unseasonal rain provided a welcome reprieve from Broome’s warm conditions. The cooler weather gave competitors a refreshing break from the heat and humidity before the action continued.
After a highly competitive day, Rice House was crowned the overall winning House, followed by Ward, Barbier and O’Brien. Congratulations to all students who contributed points to their House and, most importantly, participated with enthusiasm and pride.

A huge thank you goes to our PE Department for the tremendous amount of organisation and preparation that went into making the carnival such a success, both before, during and after the event.
