Word on the street is that Pre Primary has learnt the whole alphabet and its sounds! 🎉
Since the beginning of the year, we have been using the gorgeous story Milo Monkey’s Birthday Surprise to support our learning of letters and sounds. Each week, we have followed Milo as he calls his animal friends to invite them to his birthday party. But there’s a catch… every friend is too busy to come! Cooper the Caterpillar is cutting cucumbers, Kylie Koala is flying kites and, as the story unfolds, the children discover that Milo’s friends have actually been busy preparing a surprise birthday party for him.
To celebrate Milo’s birthday and our incredible achievement of 100 Days of School, we brought the story to life with our very own birthday celebration! The children dressed as their favourite animal from the story or embraced the 100 Days theme, and we enjoyed a delicious birthday morning tea featuring snacks inspired by Milo’s story. We even had a special visit from Milo himself!
Throughout the week, we also enjoyed a range of 100-themed learning activities. In Literacy, we challenged ourselves to read & draw 100 words and responded to writing prompts such as “If I had $100…”, “When I am 100 years old…” and “I could eat 100…”. In Numeracy, we counted, built and created with 100, including building towers with 100 items and cups, counting 100 gumballs and making our very own 100 crowns.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate 100 days of learning, friendship and all that our Pre Primary students have achieved!
