St Mary’s College Broome is delighted to extend a warm welcome to our newest team members joining us for the 2025 school year. As we continue our commitment to excellence in education, these talented individuals bring fresh perspectives, expertise, and enthusiasm to our college community. We are also blessed to welcome back some incredible team members from leave.

Our new staff members have already begun settling into their roles, eager to contribute to the dynamic learning environment and listening heart that defines our College. They come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing valuable experience that will enhance the academic, cultural, and pastoral care programs we offer.

We recently hosted a special welcome event and inductions where new staff had the opportunity to meet their colleagues, explore our beautiful college, and learn about the values and traditions that make our college such a special place. This event fostered a sense of belonging and provided an opportunity for meaningful connections as we embark on another exciting year together. These new staff also completed the Catholic Education WA Living in the Kimberley with all new teachers and Principals from across the Kimberley region.

Staff returning from leave to our secondary campus are Katie Cole, our fabulous Science Teacher. We also welcome Yoshi Hunter who is returning to our college as a Secondary Teacher leading largely in our Year 7 Core team. New to our Secondary Campus is Amy Boughton; Head of Student Pathways. Amy joins us from La Salle College and has a wonderfully long and rich experience in Catholic Education, along with Tim Redden who will be joining us as a English Teacher from Ursula Frayne bringing 17 years experience in secondary Catholic education. We also welcome back Jennie Jago, our Deputy Principal – Teaching & Learning, who visited for some relief work last year and loved it so much she had to return! Jennie brings many years of experience as a teacher and leader in Catholic Education and will be an integral member of the College Leadership Team. We are extremely blessed to have these all these team members, new and returning, join our secondary staff.

On our primary campus we welcome the return of Melis Murphy as our Numeracy Intervention Teacher and Numeracy Pillar Leader and Hugh Mitchell back to our upper primary years. It was gorgeous to see the joy in our students faces to have valued team members return. Maria Nieto and Samantha Casey have both joined our Pre Primary early learning centre after working at our College over the years in differing roles – we welcome them back and love the quality and passion they bring to the early learning centre. Michael joined us in a relief role last year and we were so impressed we welcomed him back with his experience and excellence in student learning for our Year Four Team. Celeste Haji-Ali and Brooke Stubbs both completed their final prac placements with us last year, achieving incredible results. Celeste previously worked in a school as an ATA and Brooke as a TA, so bring a strong foundation with students and schools.

New faces to our primary campus are Olivia Manders, who is joining us from Melbourne where she has worked in the early years and now joins us in our Kindergarten early learning centre. Tom Williams has an incredible ten years of experience in Catholic Education and joins us from Newman College with his ability to engage everyone in sport and has exciting things planned for 2025 already! Clancey joins us from sunny Queensland and is a wonderful addition to the Year 4 team, whilst Sophia brings her experience from St Mary’s Star of the Sea in Carnarvon to the Year 3 team in 2025. Hayley joins us from St Damien’s in Dawesville with eight years of experience in Catholic education and a passion for data. Welcome to our new Primary teachers!

We also welcome Sabrina Grosser to our hard working team in Jarrayirr Buru on Primary and Imogen Greenhalgh to the Wellbeing Team as Secondary Social Worker – welcome Sabrina and Imogen!

The addition of these educators and support staff strengthens our collective ability to nurture, inspire, and guide our students toward success. Their dedication and passion for teaching will undoubtedly enrich the lives of our students and contribute to the strong, supportive learning environment we cherish at St Mary’s College. We encourage our students, parents, and wider school community to extend a warm welcome to our new staff members and support them as they become part of the St Mary’s family. Together, we look forward to a fantastic 2025 school year filled with learning, growth, and achievement in partnership with you our families.
