On Tuesday, 25 November, our students from across our Primary and Secondary campuses of showcased their creativity at the 12th Annual Poetry Slam, held at the Broome Convention Centre. The event drew an audience of over 100 people, creating an electric atmosphere as students performed their original works on stage – without notes.
The Poetry Slam brought together participants from all Broome schools, celebrating the power of words and performance. Judges assessed entries based on creativity, originality, physical presence, voice and articulation, and overall performance.
Secondary Performances
- Narin Kim “Deforestation”
- Mahli Johns “Ana”
Primary Performances
- Torah Langthorn & Isla Eaton “If I Was a Celebrity”
- Elara Beacham “The Place I Call Home”
A special highlight of the evening was Mahli Johns, who received the prestigious Rani Middleton Award for her resilience and deeply moving piece that touched the hearts of the judges and audience alike.
The Poetry Slam continues to be a cherished tradition, giving students a platform to express themselves and engage with the community through the art of spoken word on the big stage. We are so grateful to Ms Rose and Mr Tim who lead and supported these incredible students.
