Our College is proud to celebrate and share the outstanding achievements of our secondary students who recently travelled to Perth to participate in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, a key event in the Spirit of the Arts program.

Led by our passionate and talented dance teacher, Ms Wendi Torres, and supported by former College Captain and now staff member, Ms Matilda Moase, the students represented themselves, their families, and our college community with pride and creativity.

The Spirit of the Arts brings together Catholic school students from across Western Australia in a vibrant celebration of artistic expression, featuring the Performing Arts Festival, the Angelico Art Exhibition, and the Carnevale Street Festival. It is a powerful reminder of the joy and importance of the arts in Catholic education.
Our students performed two original pieces in the Creative Dance section: “Try” and “Jila.”

“Try” explored the emotional journey of exclusion and the powerful process of reconnection and belonging. Through expressive movement and storytelling, the piece highlighted the empathy and resilience of our students.

“Jila” was a cultural dance inspired by a freshwater/saltwater woman story generously shared by Yawuru Elder, Di Appleby. Created under the guidance of Ms Torres, the piece reflected deep cultural connections and was praised by the judges for its authenticity and emotional impact.

We are delighted that our Dance team were awarded an ‘Outstanding Certificate’ with a near perfect score for their Jila performance. A credit to the students and staff hard work, dedication and pure joy of dance. The Jila piece reflected deep cultural connections and was praised by the judges for its authenticity and impact.
The experience was both inspiring and rewarding, offering students the opportunity to connect with peers from other Catholic schools and to celebrate the performing arts in a supportive and inclusive environment.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication, creativity, and the way they carried the spirit and values of our college with them throughout the festival and trip to Perth.
