School News

June 28, 2024

Kimberley Cup occurred in Week 11 of Term Two. This event was a great opportunity for St Mary’s College to compete against 14 other schools from across the Kimberley. As a whole, we performed well and ended up winning the Grand Final for the following sports:

  • Boys Volleyball
  • Mixed Volleyball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Boys Football
  • Girls Football
  • Mixed Football

There were also some stand out performances in our students chosen sports, with the following individual student success with them being awarded Most Valuable Player:

Fletcher Moase – VB

Dre Collins – Mixed AFL

Leithan Turner – AFL runner up

Jazaidah Isaacs – Girls AFL

JoJo Pigram- Mixed Netball runner-up

Luca Trenton – Mixed Soccer runner-up

The highlight of the carnival however was how our students represented our College with such incredible sportsmanship and willingness to support one another, their team, the coaches, umpires and other schools . Our students showed responsibility and respect by getting to games on time and often choosing to play between 2 sports, as well as filling in to make up numbers for other schools that needed. Our students wonderful behaviour and positivity throughout the Carnival was a credit to the themselves, our College and their families. We are extremely proud and impressed with our student’s conduct on and off the field, making our St Mary’s students absolute shining stars.

A massive thank you must go to all the coaches who trained teams all term to ensure they were prepared and the wonderful commitment to making the week such a success. A special mention to Steve Gregory our HOLA Phys Ed and Health and his team for leading the week and ensuring such a fun, positive and successful Kimberley Cup yet again this year.
