Our incredible Barbier students from Years 3 to 6 at came together in joyful celebration for Barbier Feast Day – a special day honouring the life and legacy of Euphrasie Barbier, the founder of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions and the patron of Barbier House.

The day began with a beautiful and reverent Mass, where our secondary Barbier students reflected on the values of kindness, courage, and service that Euphrasie Barbier lived by. Her inspiring story, from growing up in France to founding a missionary group that reached communities across the world reminds us all of the power of faith and the importance of helping others.

After Mass, the celebrations continued with a variety of fun and engaging activities. Our college grounds were filled with laughter as students enjoyed games, team challenges, and sporting fun designed to build friendships and college spirit. Teachers and staff joined in the fun, helping guide the activities and cheering on our students.

A delicious cake awaited the students after the games. The celebration was a true reflection of the motto of Barbier House: On Fire with the Spirit – a spirit that was alive in every smile, every cheer, and every shared moment.

The symbols of Barbier House were proudly displayed and discussed at Mass by Father Liam. The flame, representing the fire of the Holy Spirit; the cross, used by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions; and the golden wattle flower, symbolising the Australian province and found all around Broome, reminded everyone of the deep connection between the college and its mission.

Barbier Feast Day is a time for our students to be reminded about the incredible life of Euphrasie Barbier and to celebrate the values she stood for. It’s wonderful to see our students living out those values through faith, fun, and friendship, alongside our college values of courage, love, empathy, acceptance and resilience.
