At St Mary’s College, our staff collaborate to create teaching and learning programs specifically tailored to the needs of our students and families. We are committed to empowering both our students and their families to thrive in all areas, including digital wellbeing and mental health.
One of our key Director goals for 2025 is to support families in managing and guiding their students’ digital lives. Recognising that digital parenting is very different from traditional parenting, we aim to provide our parents with the tools and knowledge to navigate this new landscape effectively. For practical advice and tips, we recommend this valuable resource from UNICEF on digital parenting, access here.
As part of our Wellbeing Program, we embrace technology in meaningful ways to support student development.
- In Primary, Miss Cara integrates technology into her programs to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
- In Secondary, Miss Melita and Miss Imogen use a range of digital resources to provide tailored support for students, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed.
- Classroom teachers across both campuses also use Reflect in Microsoft Teams to track student wellbeing throughout the term and assess how they feel about assignments, helping staff provide the right support when it’s needed.
One of our key wellbeing initiatives is Friendology, a program through URSTRONG, designed to empower students with essential friendship skills. Using a skills-based approach, URSTRONG teaches practical concepts and language to help students build and maintain healthy friendships.
The College also offers free membership for parents to access URSTRONG’s resources. Check out the link below for more information:
Alongside Friendology, we utilise:
- Smiling Minds, a mindfulness and mental health program for students.
- ReachOut Parents, a fantastic resource offering expert advice, coaching, and support for parents navigating digital wellbeing and mental health.
