On Thursday Week 3, students our Pre-Primary, Year 1, and Year 3 were treated to an exciting and interactive coding session delivered by Shane Landers from the Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CEM) of Western Australia.
Shane brought coding to life through journeys across WA, using Microbits and Bee-Bots to teach students about directional language and sequencing. With a strong focus on literacy, the sessions helped develop vital language and comprehension skills through hands-on learning.
Students were buzzing with excitement as they coded, collaborated, and competed in challenges. This experience showed that literacy doesn’t always start with a pencil – sometimes, it starts with a robot!
A huge thank you to Shane and CEM for an engaging and educational day! We look forward to running more sessions in our Early Years with help from our Year 6 Digital Leaders.
