Building Connections and supporting our scholarship students

The MADALAH team visited St Mary’s College for an enriching and engaging session with the students’ receiving scholarships through their organisation. The day began with the Icebreaker Skittles game, setting a fun and welcoming tone. This activity allowed the students to get to know one another and connect with the team, especially as it marked MADALAH team member Kaide’s first visit to the school.

Following the icebreaker, the focus turned to the SEWB (Social and Emotional Wellbeing) Wheel – an essential foundation of MADALAH’s support approach. Students explored their connections to various elements, including body, mind, emotions, family, community, culture, country, and spirit, reflecting on how these connections contribute to their wellbeing.

After recess, the group delved into the School Support Network activity. This session was designed to help students recognise the resources and support available to them within the school. The day continued with a tour of the DSG and Clontarf facilities on campus, giving the MADALAH team an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school’s amenities. The students also had a quick game of basketball before heading back indoors to beat the heat.

To wrap up the visit, the team assisted the students with completing their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Career Pathway Plans (CPPs), ensuring that they left with actionable steps for their future goals.

Overall, the day was a tremendous success. The students actively engaged in the activities participating with enthusiasm. The MADALAH team left feeling fulfilled, having strengthened connections and supported the students in meaningful ways.

A big thank you to the MADALAH team for their enthusiasm and support. We look forward to them returning in Term 2 and building on these foundations!
