This term we have been fortunate to work with artist Kamsani (Kam) Bin-Salleh, who’s been collaborating with our STRIVE students, Year 6s, and K-12 Cultural Action and K-12 Faith Team to create a stunning Yawuru and Faith Calendar for our college.
Kam’s large-scale murals and projection works can be seen across Perth — from Yagan Square and Subiaco to East Perth and the Kings Park Botanic Garden — each inspired by the beauty of Western Australian flora, fauna, and culture. We now celebrate this beautiful and meaningful artwork right here at St Mary’s College.
Through this project, our students are learning how art, faith, and culture connect — exploring Yawuru seasonal knowledge, Catholic faith, and creative expression. It’s helping them build cultural understanding, collaboration, and respect for Country, while developing visual art and storytelling skills.
