Christian Service Learning
Christian service learning at St. Marys College, involves the integration of studies with serving others, guided by the values and teachings of the Catholic Church. This approach highlights the significance of applying the knowledge and skills gained in classrooms to real-life situations in serving our community.
At St. Marys College students actively participate in diverse service-learning activities that embody our values. These activities encompass volunteering at organisations engaging in community development programs and supporting groups like the elderly or disadvantaged youth, along with strong connections to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish. Through these experiences, students have opportunities to cultivate compassion, empathy, and a sense of responsibility. Christian service learning also enhances students’ understanding of their roles as members of the community. It encourages them to reflect on their actions, and values as the principles of justice and equality advocated by Christian teachings.
By engaging in service initiatives students not only deepen their comprehension of social issues but also develop essential skills such as communication, problem-solving and teamwork. Overall, Christian service learning at St. Marys College aims to foster a spirit of service while instilling values, within students. It provides opportunities for them to positively impact the lives of others.
