Faith Life

In our Junior school years at our College, our mission is to provide a Catholic education that is grounded in Christ’s message of love and service to others with a listening heart. The College places a strong emphasis on the Catholic faith as we believe this faith life and religious education will support and nurture students in their development and growth. Our faith is reflected in the the use of Catholic traditions and practices, and in the way staff and students are encouraged to serve and respond within our community with a listening heart.

The primary school years are a crucial time for children in the development of their faith and moral values. St. Mary’s College understands this and aims to provide students with a learning environment that enables them to grow culturally, spiritually, academically, and socially. The school promotes a culture of inclusion, respect, and tolerance, and encourages students to live their faith through our College values of courage, love, empathy, acceptance and resilience through a Christ centred and student focused lens.

Through classroom learning opportunities, students are encouraged to explore their spirituality and to participate in worship and faith-building experiences. Special events, such as liturgies and masses are incorporated into the school year to provide opportunities for students to practice what they have learned and to experience the richness of our Catholic faith.

St Mary’s College recognises the important role that parents play in the faith development of their children and encourages parents to be active participants in their child’s Catholic faith journey. The school offers resources and opportunities for parents to deepen their own faith and to support their children’s learning and engagement in the Catholic faith.

We support the sacramental program alongside our Parish Team at Our Lady Queen of Peace. We support students in Years 3, 4 and 6 to receive the Sacraments. In 2024 we will be transitioning year level offerings to align with other Western Australian Diocese so we will also be offering sacramental programs in Years 4 and 5 in 2024.
