Religious Education

At St Mary’s College, Religious Education takes centre stage in shaping the minds and souls of our students. Utilising the curriculum designed by CEWA, our comprehensive program caters to students from Years 1 to 6, providing a strong foundation in faith, values, and spirituality.

At St Mary’s College, we believe that Religious Education is not just a subject; it is a transformative journey that nurtures the holistic development of each child. Guided by our school motto of ‘Listening Hearts’, our dedicated team of experienced teachers creates a safe and inclusive environment where students can explore and deepen their understanding of Catholic teachings, traditions, and moral values.

Through engaging and interactive lessons, students embark on a path of discovery, embracing the rich heritage of the Catholic faith. They learn about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the Sacraments, the Bible, and the principles of Christian living. Our curriculum also emphasises the development of our school values of Courage, Love, Empathy, Acceptance and Resilience, fostering a strong moral compass within our students.

Beyond the classroom, St Mary’s College offers various opportunities for students to put their faith into action. Christian Service Learning, community outreach programs, and participation in liturgical celebrations are all integral parts of our curriculum. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in the Parish Sacramental Program. Baptised students celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Year 4, First Eucharist in Year 5, and Confirmation in Year 6. In 2024 we will be transitioning year level offerings to align with other Western Australian Diocese so we will also be offering sacramental programs in Years 4 and 5 in 2024. These experiences enable our students to live out the Gospel values, serving as compassionate and responsible members of society.
