Brekkie with Bunnings

School News

September 26, 2025

We were blessed to have Bunnings visit our secondary campus and cook a special breakfast sausage sizzle for our Breakfast Club in Wiriny Buru. Breakfast Club runs every morning in Wiriny Buru and is open to all students, but with hot sausages on offer, we had more students than usual come along to enjoy this inclusive space before our school day commenced.

Wiriny Buru, which means “star place” in Yawuru, is a welcoming and inclusive learning and wellbeing space. It is open before school for Breakfast Club, where students can have juice, Weet-Bix, and porridge, or simply use the space to get ready for the day. Staff are always there to welcome students, and there are small tasks to do, such as collecting chicken eggs, feeding the chickens and fish, watering the plants including sunflowers, tomatoes, and basil, or just socialising with friends in a safe and supportive environment.

Wiriny Buru is also open at recess and lunch. Thank you to Bunnings for visiting and making our Breakfast Club extra special! What wonderful community support from our local Bunnings in Broome!
