Our Year 6 students recently brought their learning to life through a wonderful Christian Service Learning experience as part of their Eucharist unit. Inspired by the Gospel story of Jesus washing the Apostles’ feet, students explored what it means to follow Jesus’ example of humility, compassion and service. Through class discussions and reflection, they gained a deeper understanding of how acts of service can be a powerful expression of faith.
Putting these lessons into practice, the Year 6 students planned, organised and ran a series of fundraising stalls to support our parish community. From developing ideas and preparing resources to working collaboratively on the day, students embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, creativity and a strong sense of purpose.
The initiative highlighted the importance of putting faith into action. Through their teamwork, generosity and commitment to helping others, the students demonstrated that service is much more than a task. It is a way of living out the values of the Gospel and making a positive difference in the lives of those around us.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 students and staff and support of Fr Liam for their dedication and willingness to serve. Their efforts are a wonderful example of how our students grow as compassionate and faith-filled young people, committed to making meaningful contributions to their community.
