Our Year 9 and 10 Japanese students took part in a hands-on cultural cooking activity, preparing a three-course meal inspired by their learning. As part of their assessment, students worked in small groups to plan a menu, write invitations in Japanese, and create a detailed shopping list before bringing their ideas to life in the kitchen.
The menu included a shared starter, main dish, and drink, with students carefully selecting ingredients and collaborating on preparation. This provided them the opportunity to develop practical skills and explore Japanese culture through food. The lesson provided a valuable way to connect language learning with real-world experiences in an engaging and practical setting.
It was a lovely opportunity for students to spend time with a Sensei and sharing a little bit of Japanese culture through food.
