We are proud to launch our new Strategic Intent, a clear and visionary roadmap that will guide the College’s direction over the coming years and strengthen our commitment to students, families and the wider Broome community.
Grounded in our Catholic identity and shaped by extensive consultation with staff, students, families and key partners, the Strategic Intent articulates who we are, what we value, and where we are heading as a learning community.
Principal, Coby Rhatigan said the Strategic Intent reflects both the proud history of St Mary’s College and a strong vision for the future. “Our Strategic Intent captures our shared aspirations for every child pre pre-K to 12 entrusted to our care, it affirms our commitment to faith, excellence in learning, wellbeing, and a strong sense of belonging – ensuring every student is known, valued and supported to excel”.
At the heart of the Strategic Intent is a commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive learning experiences that enable all students to achieve their personal best. A clear focus on students and learning.
The plan places strong emphasis on:
• Excellence in teaching and learning, grounded in evidence-based practice
• Holistic student wellbeing, recognising the importance of relationships, culture and care
• Catholic identity and faith formation, lived daily through words, actions and service
• Partnerships with families, acknowledging families as a child’s first and most important educators
Importantly, the Strategic Intent reflects the unique cultural and geographical context of Broome, honouring First Nations perspectives and fostering respect, understanding and reconciliation within our College community.
The development of the Strategic Intent was a collaborative process, informed by feedback and reflection across the College community. We listened carefully to the voices of our families and staff, this plan belongs to all of us. It will guide our decision-making and ensure we remain focused on what matters most – student growth, faith, and community.
The Strategic Intent shapes priorities, planning and resourcing across the College, supporting continuous improvement and sustainable growth. Clear actions and measures will accompany the plan, allowing the College to monitor progress and adapt as needed. We are able to look ahead with confidence.
Families are encouraged to engage with the Strategic Intent and join the College in bringing the vision to life. We believe that when Schools, families and communities work together with a shared purpose, students thrive, we look forward to walking this journey together.
