Students and staff from St Mary’s College Broome proudly joined community members in this year’s Kullarri NAIDOC March, coming together to celebrate culture, community and the remarkable milestone of 50 years of Deadly.
The streets of Broome were filled with colour, pride and excitement as Elders, families, schools and organisations marched together in recognition of the strength, resilience and achievements of First Nations peoples. For St Mary’s College students, the event was a powerful opportunity to walk alongside the wider community and celebrate the world’s oldest continuing cultures.
Carrying the spirit of this year’s celebrations, students embraced the occasion with enthusiasm and respect, proudly representing the College as they joined the procession through town. The march honoured the legacy of those who have helped shape NAIDOC over the past five decades while celebrating the contributions of First Nations peoples today and inspiring future generations.
The event highlighted the importance of connection, respect and community. The Kullarri NAIDOC March is a wonderful celebration of culture and identity. It was fantastic to see our students proudly walking alongside community members as we recognised 50 years of NAIDOC. Events like these help strengthen understanding, build connections and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our region, we are so proud of our community.
