St Mary’s College was delighted to welcome visiting students and staff from Luurnpa Catholic School this week, as the Kipara class travelled to campus for a special transition and learning experience as part of their Broome Camp immersion.
The visit provided Luurnpa primary students with a valuable opportunity to see firsthand what high school life looks like, helping to build confidence and excitement about their future educational journey. From stepping into classrooms to observing lessons in action, the students gained insight into the vibrant and engaging learning environment that our College offers.
A highlight of the day was the involvement of Luurnpa students already enrolled at our College, who proudly took on the role of tour guides. Their leadership and enthusiasm shone as they guided the Kipara class around the campus, sharing their personal experiences and offering encouragement to the younger students. We were super impressed with Classio, Ruzlena and Geneva!
These moments are incredibly special, to have our Luurnpa students, all the way from Balgo community welcoming and mentoring the younger group reflects the strong sense of community and connection we value at St Mary’s College, along with the partnership with our Kimberley catholic schools.
Throughout the visit, the Kipara students explored key learning spaces and experienced the daily rhythm of secondary school life. Just as importantly, they were introduced to the College’s expectations and values, hearing directly from current students about respect, responsibility, and the importance of making the most of every opportunity.
The visit was not only an informative experience but also a meaningful cultural and community connection, strengthening the partnership between Luurnpa Catholic School and St Mary’s College.
St Mary’s College looks forward to continuing this important relationship and warmly welcomes future visits from Luurnpa students as they prepare for the next stage of their education – the future looks bright with wonderful future students like these guys!
