Week 8 on St Mary’s College Secondary campus saw us celebrating English and HASS Week. This began with 23 students participating in Write a Book in a Day, where they wrote and illustrated feverishly from 8am to 8pm to create a story to be read to kids in cancer wards across Australia. The teams are also raising funds for kids cancer research, and will continue in those efforts until the end of September. The Senior Team has raised almost $1500 already!
Other activities included a daily Homeroom quiz on topics ranging from Kimberley Geography, The History of Rubibi to famous characters from books and movies and even our amazing English and HASS staff! There were also some lunchtime word wheel contests to see who could find the most words out of a given set of nine letters, which saw some fierce contests and a range of winners. Across the week we have seen prizes go to competitors from Year 7 to Year 12 but the real victory has been everyone getting immersed in all things related to Humanities and the English language. Great work St Mary’s!
