Our Kindergarten Birndany and Jurriwayi classes were blessed to attend the First Nations and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day celebrations at Jalygurr-Guwan.
Our Kindy students had a wonderful morning exploring a variety of engaging activities. They enjoyed listening to stories, creating beautiful craft, making colourful handprints, using puppets to tell their own stories, and investigating sensory experiences such as playdough and oobleck.
A special highlight of the day was listening to a story in Yawuru about the osprey (Jir), meeting the Jir mascot, and singing songs in Yawuru together.
A big thank you to Fallsy for safely driving us to and from Jalygurr-Guwan and helping make our excursion such a smooth and enjoyable experience.
It was a fantastic celebration of culture, learning and community, and our Kindy students had an incredible time making memories and embracing these rich cultural experiences. A special thanks to Jalygurr-Guwan for the special invite and all stakeholders who ensure such a special morning for ATSI children’s day.
