St Mary’s College welcomed Bidyadanga artists Edward (Bon) Badal and Venetia Yanawana to present Artist’s Talks for our Visual Arts students.
Edward is a former Nulungu College student from Bidyadanga and an accomplished painter and carver. He is also a Ngyangamata Ranger who profoundly understands his Country’s cultural and environmental values. Venetia is an emerging artist who also works as a Ngyangamata Ranger and as an Art Assistant at the Bidydanga Art Centre.
Both artists presented engaging talks to students about their artistic journeys, their inspiration, processes, career opportunities, the role art has played in their personal wellbeing and the way that Country shapes their visual language.
Our Visual Arts students were inspired to hear these stories and asked the artists meaningful questions after the presentation.
We would like to thank Edward (Bon), Venetia, Augustine and Anna Spencer from Bidyadanga Arts Centre for sharing their stories and process with our students. We look forward to inviting more artists into Gurljiwarn Art Studio.
